Daily Herald: Lauzen wants answers on agency's director after think tank report
Kane County officials will begin a public examination of the Upper Illinois Valley River Development Authority following recent reports by a conservative think tank raising questions about the agency’s executive director.
The agency is one of 10 regional development authorities in Illinois. Its executive director, Andrew Hamilton, heads eight of them, including the Upper Illinois Valley agency that includes Kane County.
Bloomington Pantagraph: Heartland receives nearly $200,000 from state for campus repairs
Heartland Community College will receive nearly $200,000 from the state for campus repairs that is part of millions of dollars in capital funding that has been released for community college capital projects.
The money is for emergency and deferred maintenance projects. Heartland requested money for two projects through the Illinois Community College Board. Money for road and parking lot repairs had been requested for several years.
Champaign News-Gazette: Pension costs hang over vote on $1.4M grant to hire firefighters
In the next three weeks, Danville aldermen must make an already-controversial decision to either accept, or reject, a $1.4 million federal grant to hire six new firefighters.
Some aldermen are not convinced that hiring additional firefighters with federal dollars is the most feasible move.
