Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker is telling President Joe Biden the numbers of migrants arriving to Chicago from the southern U.S. border are accelerating. The situation is overwhelming, untenable and uncoordinated, he added.
In a letter Pritzker sent the White House Monday, the governor says “the humanitarian crisis is overwhelming our ability to provide aid to the refugee population.” More than 15,000 migrants have arrived in Chicago in the past 13 months.

State Representative Adam Niemerg (R-Teutopolis) is calling for accountability from the Illinois Department of Transportation following a crash Friday that involved an anhydrous ammonia leak, left five dead, and led to parts of Teutopolis being evacuated.
Rep. Niemerg also expressed gratitude for the first responders and emergency workers who responded to the incident.

Illinois is suing alternative electric supplier Residents Energy LLC, accusing the company of “deceptive and unfair tactics” that made some state residents liable for “millions” more in energy costs.
The lawsuit, announced by Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul’s office Monday afternoon, accused the company’s sales force of promising “historically low,” first-month rates without disclosing that they were temporary deals.
