Daily Herald: Illinois' COVID-19 case rate is the 10th-lowest nationally
Illinois has one of the lowest per capita COVID-19 infection rates in the country, though the rate remains much higher than it was four months ago.
Illinois’ infection rate is 151.9 cases for every 100,000 residents over the past week. That puts Illinois 10th-lowest among the 50 states, according to U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention figures.
WIFR: Study: Illinois ranks top-15 for most energy-efficient states
A new WalletHub study of the “Most & Least Energy-Efficient States” places Illinois at the No. 13 spot for 2021.
The study finds that the average U.S. household spends at least $2,000 a year on utilities plus $1,568 on motor fuel and oil. WalletHub compared auto and home efficiency from 48 U.S. states (Alaska and Hawaii were not ranked due to limited data). Illinois received a score of 66.94 and ranked 18th in the U.S. for home energy efficiency and 9th for auto energy efficiency.
Belleville News-Democrat: Illinois teachers union intervenes in Madison County lawsuit over staff vaccines
The largest union in Illinois has filed a motion to join the fight against a Madison County lawsuit over COVID-19 safety mitigations.
The Illinois Education Association filed a motion on Friday to intervene in the lawsuit by 10 teachers from Triad CUSD 2 and Edwardsville CUSD 7 that argued the two districts did not have the authority to require school employees either be vaccinated against COVID-19 or be tested weekly.
