The Chicago Tribune: City orders audit after pay mix-up for hundreds of laborers
The city of Chicago has initiated a payroll audit after widespread miscalculations in pay for laborers working on city garbage trucks, trimming trees and fixing sidewalks and roads, an ongoing problem that prompted a union official to rip Mayor Brandon Johnson for not dealing with it.
The issue sprang up in January when workers represented by LiUNA Local 1001 discovered miscalculations in paychecks for back pay.

Chicago Police Supt. Larry Snelling during a press conference Tuesday called gun violence in the city “unbearable and unacceptable” after a 7-year-old child was fatally struck by gunfire on Chicago’s Near West Side in broad daylight.
“The random shooting of this 7-year-old is unacceptable,” Snelling said. “We really have to think about who we are as a society when our kids are being shot in the street.”

Tracy made the announcement in a letter to party members this afternoon. Tracy took the volunteer post three-and-a-half years ago advocating for party unity.
The Daily Herald: Hundreds turn out to protest controversial development near Sugar Grove
Several hundred people Tuesday made it very clear they oppose using property taxes to help pay some of the costs of transforming 861 acres of farmland near Sugar Grove into warehouses, offices, stores and housing.
Many in the crowd wore protest T-shirts during the nearly two-hour public hearing on whether the Sugar Grove Village Board should find the land eligible to become a tax increment financing district.
WCIA: State Board of Elections dismisses complaint against Bailey, Proft
The Illinois State Board of Elections took the recommendation of a hearing officer and officially dismissed a complaint alleging collusion between former Republican Candidate for governor Darren Bailey and conservative political operative Dan Proft.
The complaint was filed by a top Illinois Democratic Party official. It pointed to two separate instances. The first was an appearance by Bailey on Proft’s radio show, which resulted in a number of ads being run by Proft’s People Who Play By the Rules PAC. The second pointed to an alleged private meeting between the two where they discussed the campaign.
