Illinois became the first state in the U.S. to ban police from lying or using deceptive tactics while interrogating minors.

Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker signed the measure on Thursday. It is intended to reduce false confessions by young people. It was one of four pieces of legislation the Democrat signed, he said, to “change the laws that have failed the people they serve.”

Illinois is awarding millions of dollars in marijuana revenue to organizations that work to reduce violence through street intervention programs.

$3.5 million will go to anti-violence programs in 12 cities.

When it comes to mask requirements in the classroom this fall, Illinois Gov. J-B Pritzker has said it’s important for individual school districts to set their own policies.

The state is following C-D-C guidelines, recommending that students and staff who have not been vaccinated still wear a mask. But, Gov. Pritzker said there is no state mandate.
