WAND 17: Illinois Becomes First State to Ban Police From Lying to Minors in Interrogation
Illinois became the first state in the U.S. to ban police from lying or using deceptive tactics while interrogating minors.
Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker signed the measure on Thursday. It is intended to reduce false confessions by young people. It was one of four pieces of legislation the Democrat signed, he said, to “change the laws that have failed the people they serve.”
