Chicago Tribune: Anjanette Young agrees to meeting with Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot, also wants a public forum, lawyer says
Social worker Anjanette Young has agreed to meet privately with Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot following public uproar over a mistaken police raid on her home but has requested that they also have a public forum with the police superintendent and aldermen, her lawyer said Sunday.
Lightfoot first requested a meeting with Young via a Dec. 17 email sent to Young’s attorney, Keenan Saulter, just before a news conference in which the mayor was apologetic. In a response sent to Lightfoot and several aldermen on Dec. 26, Young agreed to meet privately with the mayor and requested it happen at her church on Dec. 30. Saulter also requested a public forum afterward with police Superintendent David Brown and several aldermen.
Northwest Herald: Crystal Lake school districts approve final tax levy
Crystal Lake Community High School District 155 and Elementary School District 47′s school boards both approved final property tax levy increases earlier this month.
District 155′s board approved a $76,905,214 levy at its December meeting, making for a 1.19% raise from last year’s levy, while District 47 approved a $76,325,000 levy this year, which is higher than last year’s $74.6 million extension by 2.2%.
