Summary
Creates a locally controlled process to reduce wasteful and unnecessary bureaucracy in K-12 education so more taxpayer dollars can flow to students and instruction where they do the most good.
Creates a commission to make specific recommendations on the consolidation of school districts with a goal of decreasing the number by at least 25%, and as much more as is practical and effective.
The commission would be charged with appointing regional sub-committees comprised of experts on local education conditions. Parents, teachers, and all other residents would have the opportunity to contribute through a public comment period.
All recommendations would be subject to voter approval, requiring a majority of voters in each affected school district to approve the change. This puts each parent and community member in charge of directly deciding the proper form for their local education administration.
