Sara Albrecht | Board Member
Sara’s background in investment management led to the formation of Swan Capital in 2007. Her career began as an analyst at Harris Associates L.P. , and from there she went on to become one of the founding partners of the equity team at PPM America, Inc. In addition to practicing investment management, she also taught international finance at St. Xavier University’s Graham School of Management as well as Chartered Financial Analyst prep courses after receiving her CFA in 1995. In 2000, she purchased the retail chain Ultimo and operated it until 2011.
Sara joined the board of Hubbard Street Dance Chicago in 1995 and was active in every part of the company, most recently serving as chairman of the board and acting executive director from 2013 until her retirement in 2017. She has also served as a trustee of the Museum of Contemporary Art since 1999 and as the president of the MCA’s Emerge group since 2015 while also currently serving on the collection committee and the rapid response team. In addition to her passion for the arts, her civic engagements involve serving as a board member of Empower Illinois advocating for educational choice in Illinois and across the country. Recently, she has joined the Liberty Justice Center board as it expands its reach nationally, and is the newest member of the board of the Illinois Policy Institute. She has also been a member of the Economic Club of Chicago for the past 19 years and currently serves on the membership committee.
Sara graduated with a B.S. in finance and accounting from DePaul University and received a M.M. from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management. She is also a CFA.
