Allstate, other Illinois companies set to lay off more than 1,300 employees

Allstate Corp. tops the list of Illinois companies planning layoffs, according to a June report from theIllinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, or IDCEO.

The Northbrook-based insurance company is planning to lay off 348 workers from its Woodridge, Ill., location as part of a restructuring effort to reduce expenses.

Under IDCEO’s Illinois Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification, or WARN, Act, employers are required to provide 60 days advance notice of pending plant closures or mass layoffs.

Overall, the report listed 1,300 layoffs. Other companies disclosing layoffs include:

  • Federal Mogul Corp., 146 jobs in Chicago
  • Crownline Boats, a temporary layoff of 197 jobs in West Frankfort due to poor sales
  • G&D Integrated, 71 jobs in Bartonville due to a lost contract
  • Jacobson Staffing Co., which is also cutting 298 jobs in East Moline due to a lost contract
  • Filtration Group, 89 jobs in Joliet
  • Testor Corp., two additional jobs in Rockford
  • Olin Corp., 160 additional jobs in East Alton
  • Abbvie Inc., 29 additional layoffs in North Chicago.
