Want to expand liberty and government accountability in Illinois? Do you love free market ideas, yet aren't sure how to transform them into law? Become a Liberty Leader!
Whether you are getting involved in politics for the first time or you are already involved, we need your help. We are looking for a broad range of state and local volunteers who are united by a commitment to protecting and promoting liberty in Illinois.
With guidance from the Institute's staff and scholars as well as others who have "been there, done that," Liberty Leaders participate in local board meetings, write letters to the editor, call their elected officials, and teach their communities about practical ways to restore accountability and transparency to local government. From issues ranging from budgeting to transparency to education reform, Liberty Leaders are organizing around the issues that are important to them…and they are making an impact!

Liberty Leader Adam Andrzejewski formed FortheGoodofIllinois.org,
a non-profit organization whose mission is to "empower regular people
with the means to change how politics is practiced in Illinois state
government." Adam and his organization have done just that. Adam's
efforts to make school districts transparent have paid off: Over $2.5
billion in taxpayer expenditures are now available for public scrutiny
online. Learn more about Adam's work here. |

Liberty Leader Brian Costin started the Schaumburg Freedom Coalition
to advocate government transparency and an end to wasteful spending in
the Village of Schaumburg. By posting public financial documents on his
website, he prompted the village to do the same--a win for transparency
that has opened up Schaumburg government. Learn more about Brian's work here. |

Liberty Leader Dianna Visek worked with a
group of other citizens to advance government transparency and civic
participation in the Champaign-Urbana community. Dianna worked with the
comptroller of the City of Urbana to post its financial records online
quickly, easily and with no additional cost. Dianna continues to work
on transparency and accountability issues in Champaign County. Learn more about Dianna's work here. |
