President Barack Obama promised in 2009, “If you like your health plan, you will be able to keep your health plan.”  Yet Americans across the country are receiving notices that their health insurance plans in the individual market are being canceled as a result of ObamaCare. A recent Chicago Sun-Times article featured Sue Klinkhamer, a former staffer for Illinois Congressman Bill Foster. In addition to losing her health insurance coverage in the individual market because that policy does not include specific coverage required by the new law, Klinkhamer will also be forced to pay almost triple what she currently pays for a similar plan.

She is not alone. According to one expert, as many as 16 million people across the country could find themselves in a similar situation.

The federal Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services are projecting that about 8 million additional people will be enrolled in Medicaid and an additional 3 million enrolled in private coverage next year. But given the near inoperability of the ObamaCare websites coupled with the fact that millions across the country could lose their individual market health insurance policy, the number of uninsured Americans may actually increase under ObamaCare.

The fact that many Americans won’t be able to keep their health insurance is just one more reason why ObamaCare should be repealed. A bigger reason is that this scheme could actually increase the number of uninsured.
