In Part 3 of Governor Johnson's remarks, he commented that he would like to see the size of government shrink by 43%, though across the board cuts are not the best way to accomplish this because there are some programs that are producing valuable results.
He continued by saying that the single best action the government can take to improve education in this country would be to abolish the Department of Education. This would free up the 50 states to become the laboratories of innovation that they were intended to be and help the whole country identify best practices.
