"Any school in the world that is doing a great job has two basic ingredients: great teaching and more of it." So argues Mike Feinberg, co-founder of one of the country's most successful charter school networks, KIPP, or the Knowledge Is Power Program.
But how do charter's encourage great teaching? A culture of belief in, and high expectations for, all students, says Feinberg. And KIPPs basic model has been wildly successful. Since its birth in 1994, KIPP has expanded to over 125 schools serving 40,000 children. Over 80% of KIPP graduates go on to college.
The network will debut its latest innovation in Chicago this August. A new middle school on Chicago's West Side will blend KIPP's successful approach to instruction with the newest developments in digital learning.
