Charity Navigator, the nation’s largest and most-utilized independent evaluator of charities, has awarded the Illinois Policy Institute with its highest and most prestigious 4-star rating.

“We are proud to announce the Illinois Policy Institute has earned a 4-star rating. Receiving four out of a possible four stars indicates that the Illinois Policy Institute adheres to good governance and other best practices that minimize the chance of unethical activities and consistently executes its mission in a fiscally responsible way,” wrote Ken Marks, president and CEO of Charity Navigator, in a congratulatory letter.

“It is truly an honor to achieve the highest rating possible from Charity Navigator,” said John Knowles, vice president of external relations at the Illinois Policy Institute. “This recognition is really a tribute to our supporters and investors, because it is only through their generosity that our organization can operate at the high level it does. We will continue our work to maintain this status in the years to come.”


“This distinction reflects that the Illinois Policy Institute’s commitment to accountability and transparency,” said Kristina Rasmussen, executive vice president. “We are thrilled to receive this recognition because it highlights our focus on responsibly stewarding our mission to promote liberty in Illinois and across America.”

According to Charity Navigator, approximately one quarter of the charities evaluated have received the highest rating, indicating that the Illinois Policy Institute “outperforms most other charities in America.” More information on this “exceptional” designation may be found at CharityNavigator.org.
